Not in the pits of despair that is Jan.

Here’s how we’re going to grow your store this week:

THE PREMIUM AESTHETIC TRAP

I work with considered product brands that firmly sit in the cream segment.

They obsess over these 5 major areas:

  1. High-performance

  2. Aesthetics

  3. Values

  4. Community

  5. Quality products

The problem is that no.2 gets far too much attention.

The perfect feed. The perfect post. The perfect photos.

But sometimes looks come at the sacrifice of all else…especially clarity.

The premium aesthetic tends to be overly minimal and sleek. This attracts the right crowd on socials but the goal of your store is to sell.

WAYS YOU CAN CONVINCE

Some people buy souvenirs, I buy honey from across the globe.

It’s only fitting that I use it as an example.

I stumbled across the Honey Department thanks to foodie Grace on LinkedIn

Look AT IT.

Dreamy photography, unique toothpaste style packaging and visuals that evoke the senses.

But compare that with the one on the right.

No guesswork or blocks of text needed.

You only have seconds to get your value across on the product page.

Don’t waste any precious real estate by being beautiful but unclear.

Potential optimisations

Annotating imagery is only one opportunity.

Check that you:

  • Cover all angles of your product visually (small videos here can help)

  • Make sure all the use cases are listed

  • Give customers every reason they should buy

  • Use other people to convince them to buy (UGC)

  • White space is good but check you’re not overdoing it

Unless you’re a mega brand with skin in the game, clear and convincing leads to more sales than minimal every single time.
